Edible Gravel Garden, Private Garden

The area once was an overgrown shrubbery and a mowed lawn. Using a 100% recycled membrane, local gravel and mainly edible plants, it's a new style of gravel garden. Culinary herbs as well as fruit bearing bushes such as Honeyberries and Gooseberries make up the planting of the gravel garden, as well as the wild coast-loving Sea Beet.

The gravel garden is framed by the wildflower, which consists of native species. The wildflower is in its first year currently and will evolve and take on new colours and varied dominant plants year on year.

The fence acts as a barrier to remedy the issue of cars cutting the corner and accidentally driving over the grass. Espalier-trained Pear and Apple trees beautify the feature and provide a usable output. The sustainably sourced timber posts are installed using a concrete-less technique, utilising waste materials from the building industry.
